Liverpool fans gathered in their thousands and set off flares to bid farewell to Jurgen Klopp on his final day as manager.
Klopp will leave Liverpool after their match against Wolves on Sunday at Anfield after nine years and fans are set to give him a farewell to remember.
Thousands had already gathered near Anfield over an hour before kick-off as the team bus made its way through the crowd.
And with the fans in celebration mode on a day of mixed emotions, flares could be seen being let off among the crowd.
Scarves and flags were seen being waved as applause rippled through a sea of red shirts, greeting the team bus and the German coach on it.
While there were already plenty of Liverpool fans in attendance, even more are expected to line the streets of the city after the match to commemorate their beloved manager.
Anfield has already changed their seats with the name ‘Jurgen’ printed across the Sir Kenny Dalglish Stand.
With Liverpool’s position already cemented in third, their season is already basically over and there is expected to be a party atmosphere to send Klopp off.
Liverpool have won everything under Klopp, including the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League in 2020 – ending a 30-year wait for a league title.
He has also won two Carabao Cups, the second being earlier this season, the FA Cup, the Super Cup and Club World Cup.
Sunday afternoon will be Klopp’s 491st game in charge of the Reds – and his last – and his final press conference was an emotional one after reading letters from fans.
“Over the last few weeks it was really extreme,” Klopp said. “[I received] Emails, letters, if I answer them all I’m here until 2028.
“I apologise, I couldn’t sort tickets for the last game, there were a lot of requests.
“LFC TV had me read letters yesterday. With one, I burst into tears. Football changes lives and I know that. We did that.
Klopp has already stated what his plans are next, though he has ruled out retirement.
