Liam Rosenior is unlikely to be the next Sunderland manager, talkSPORT understands.
Rosenior had been among the leading candidates to take the helm at the Championship club.
The 39-year-old was brutally sacked by Hull just days after the end of the season after missing out on the Play-Offs.
He has no shortage of admirers, though, and is being sounded out over an immediate return.
talkSPORT brought you the news in May that he had already declined an approach from Plymouth.
Rosenior is then believed to have held initial talks with Sunderland over their vacant position.

The Black Cats are searching for their next permanent manager following the sacking of Michael Beale in February, with Mike Dodds taking caretaker charge for the rest of the season.
talkSPORT understands, however, that Rosenior will unlikely become their next manager.
Sunderland have already seen top target Will Still join Lens, with talkSPORT breaking you that news in May.
Another contender, Pascal Jansen, has also been ruled out of the race.
Rosenior could still make a return to a Championship dugout this summer.
talkSPORT understands that he and Frank Lampard are contenders for the vacant Burnley job.
