Lando Norris had a night to remember in Miami – that’s if he can remember it at all – after winning his first Grand Prix.
The British McLaren driver dazzled amongst the glitz and glamour in Florida, coming home first ahead of pal Max Verstappen.
It was a sensational drive, even if there was some fortune going his way thanks to a mid-race safety car.
And given it was his first victory, plenty of drivers were on hand to advise the 24-year-old some words of advice about how to enjoy it.
The Bristolian was given bear hugs by McLaren CEO Zak Brown who seemed more intent than anyone to show his star a good time.
Meanwhile, compatriot and seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton looked mischievous as he revealed he’d passed on some guidance.
“Honestly, I feel so happy for Lando right now,” he said speaking to Sky Sports.
“I just told him he needs to stay tonight. He’s going to try and change his flight. He’s got to, he’s just won a race.”
Norris had clearly taken on board the advice.
He laughed nervously at the post-race press conference: “Well, I was meant to fly but Zak Brown has told me we fly tomorrow.
“I’m not going to sleep. I’m going all the way.”
Referencing the mark on his face that he picked up during some raucous King’s Day celebrations in the Netherlands, he added: “I might end up with more than just a scratch on my nose tomorrow.
“But I don’t care. I’ll enjoy my time. This only happens once when you take your first win. Nice to do it here in Miami. I was kind of hoping it was going to be at Silverstone but I’ll try and do it there as well.”
And good friend Verstappen laughed: “It’s definitely better here to go out.”
Norris replied: “True. Tonight is going to be a good night.”
Norris was later spotted surrounded by stars including NFL superstar Travis Kelce and Red Bull star Verstappen.
