Should Bryson DeChambeau claim PGA Championship glory today, the immortal image of his win will no doubt be his incredible first pump on Saturday.
LIV Golf superstar DeChambeau chipped in for a stunning eagle on the 18th hole last night to propel himself right into the mix for victory at Valhalla Golf Club.
The American is just two shots off the lead at 13-under-par after he carded a third round 67, aiding massively by his heroics at the last.
After his chip found the bottom of the cup, the crowd surrounding the final hole erupted and DeChambeau responded with a huge lunging fist pump in celebration.
He then turned to the cameraman beside him and proclaimed ‘Let’s go’ down the lens.
DeChambeau was pumped up and rightly so.
He now has the chance to secure his second major title following his US Open triumph at Winged Foot in 2020.
That year, he blasted and gouged his way to an unconventional win that did not sit pretty with golf purists.
He now has much more nuance to his game, combining a brilliant touch around the green with metronomic putting and, of course, his amazing power.
After his third round, DeChambeau said: “I was so pumped.
“It was a lot of grinding today and I was just happy to finish off with a three and give myself a good shot for tomorrow.
“It has been a long time coming for me. I know it has only been a few years but I really felt after 2020 [US Open win] I’d go on a tear and I wasn’t able to do it.
“It’s been a bit frustrating but I’m so glad to be here, I’m blessed, and I’m excited for tomorrow.”
He later reposted a video of his eagle on 18 on social media, adding the caption: “Had to lunge into that fist pump.”
DeChambeau will get his final round underway at 7:15pm UK time alongside Viktor Hovland.
