Leny Yoro has been ruled out for three months and Rasmus Hojlund for six weeks in a pre-season injury nightmare for Manchester United.
Marcus Rashford limped off during the 3-2 friendly win over Real Betis on Wednesday night to add to Erik ten Hag’s misery.
£52million summer signing Yoro suffered a foot injury during United’s 2-1 weekend pre-season friendly defeat to Arsenal and was pictured leaving their US training base on crutches.
It has now been confirmed the defender has broken his metatarsal and will not feature in the Premier League until late October at the earliest.
talkSPORT understands Yoro was keen to stay with the team for the remainder of the tour but has returned to the UK for further medical tests.
United’s injury problems compounded as Hojlund, who signed for £64m in the summer of 2023, was ruled out for six weeks due to a hamstring injury suffered in the defeat to Arsenal.
And now the Red Devils are sweating over Rashford after the England forward was forced off in the victory over Betis in San Diego.
Rashford had opened the scoring for United before finding himself on the end of a heavy challenge from Sergi Altimira.
It is the last thing Ten Hag needs after discovering he will be without £116m worth of talent for the opening stages of the 2024/25 season with the injuries to Yoro and Hojlund.
Centre-back Yoro recently became the fifth most expensive teenager ever by joining United.
The 18-year-old previously made 60 appearances for French side Lille and established himself as one of the most promising defenders in Europe.
United were able to beat fellow interest from Real Madrid for the youngster and make him their second signing after Joshua Zirkzee.
Ten Hag’s side have already played four pre-season friendlies ahead of the new campaign – two defeats and two victories.
Rosenborg first claimed a shock 1-0 win over them before United beat Rangers 2-0, with the Arsenal loss coming a few days later.
Liverpool are their final pre-season opponents over in the United States.
The Community Shield against Manchester City on August 10 comes just a week before they kick off their Premier League campaign.
United open the new season on August 16 at home to Fulham, with Ten Hag taking charge for a third season at Old Trafford.
The Dutchman extended his deal at the club until 2026 following speculation he would leave at the end of last season.
They will hope to build upon their FA Cup success and challenge for a top four finish having most recently finished eighth.
