Kevin Owens revealed when his WWE contract expires during a recent interview with Metro UK.
Owens signed a three-year deal with WWE in late 2021 and has been with the company since 2014. He told Metro that he’s not sure what comes next once his deal is up in nine months.
Owens said:
I really don’t take anything for granted, I (have) nine months left on my (contract), and I don’t know what can happen from here on out.
Our own Dave Meltzer reported that Owens’ current deal is in the $2-3 million per year range.
Owens continued:
This has been my home for 10 years and it’s beyond the locker room.
There’s some very, very, very special people that work behind the scenes that I’ve become very close with, and I really can’t imagine not seeing them as part of my life.
It’s good to have somebody to bounce around, somebody you trust. When I got here, I got really close with Finn Balor right away, and I could tell this is gonna be a guy I could trust, and now he’s like a brother to me.
We might not be together all the time, me and Sami are on different brands so we don’t see each other as much. We’re always in contact and when it comes along, we have a sounding board.
I’m very lucky to be living what I’m living. It’s easy to forget it when it’s something you do a lot, it kind of becomes the usual everyday thing and you forget how special it is.
Owens offered similar thoughts in a July 2023 interview with The Toronto Sun. He told the outlet that while he wants to be involved with WWE in some capacity when his current deal ends, he’s not sure how much time left there is on his in-ring career.
“I know I want to be involved in wrestling. I know I want to be involved in the WWE and I know I have a place here. I just don’t know where it is exactly,” Owens said. “Maybe it’s still in the ring, maybe it’s not. I don’t know.”
Owens is currently involved in a program with The Bloodline on SmackDown. Tama Tonga and Solo Sikoa defeated him and Randy Orton on Saturday at Backlash following interference from a debuting Tanga Loa. Owens and Sami Zayn’s rivalry with The Bloodline was voted “Feud of the Year’ in the 2023 Wrestling Observer Newsletter Awards.
