England’s latest Euro 2024 shocker left Jamie O’Hara punching the wall as he walked out of the talkSPORT watchalong in sheer disbelief.
The Three Lions were held to a draw for the second successive match, with the point seeing them finish top of Group C.
But it was another lacklustre performance from Gareth Southgate’s men, who have yet to show their quality in any of their three matches in Germany.
And as the clock ticked down at Cologne’s RheinEnergieStadion, ex-Tottenham midfielder O’Hara couldn’t bare to watch anymore of the 0-0 stalemate.
The 37-year-old was watching the game in talkSPORT’s live YouTube watchalong alongside fellow Sports Bar presenter Jason Cundy.
Fuming after watching another England attack come to nothing, he said: “Just get knocked out, put me out of my misery.
“It’s like waiting when you’re waiting to get relegated. You’ve been getting pumped every week, and you know it’s coming, you’re just waiting for it to happen.”
He then walked out of the studio in anger following an error by substitute Trent Alexander-Arnold, yelling ‘useless’ repeatedly, which was aimed at the team as a whole, before hitting the wall – much to the amusement of Cundy.
But he was walking back in shortly later to see Anthony Gordon replace Phil Foden in the dying embers.
Failing to hide his discontent at England’s shocking form, he then fumed: “I’m sick of watching this, I’m sick of watching it. It’s so bad.”
England’s lifeless first-half showing even had O’Hara joking he would dust off his boots to get himself into Southgate’s plans.
Criticising the performance of Kierian Tripper at left-back, he remarked: “Trippier, I swear if you pass sideways or backwards I’m going to spend two weeks getting fit and I’ll play for England.
“Honestly, use your left foot, son! You’re playing left-back, mate!”
And he even pondered whether England could wield the axe on Southgate during Euro 2024.
He asked Cundy: “I cannot wait to see the back of Gareth Southgate. Can you sack a manager at a tournament?”
Unfortunately for O’Hara, he will have to watch England at least once more in Germany.
The Three Lions are to face a third-place team from either Group D, E or F in Sunday’s last 16 tie.
