He played Championship football during his time at Birmingham but they will play in League One next season after a dismal campaign.
It’s one that saw them sack John Eustace earlier in the season despite him having them sitting 6th in the league.
Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney replaced him but went on a dismal run of just two wins in 15 matches.
He was sacked after less than three months in charge and the prospect of relegation quickly emerged as a potential outcome.
Tony Mowbray took over but he stepped away from the job in order to undergo medical treatment, with Gary Rowett coming in as interim.
However, despite them beating Norwich 1-0 on the final day of the Championship, it wasn’t enough for them to secure their survival.
