Jorge Masvidal is planning to have a lengthy run in boxing.
‘Gamebred’ is a UFC legend, who made a name for himself by beating Darren Till, Ben Askren, Nate Diaz, and other elite fighters in MMA’s premier promotion.
On July 6, he’ll transition to boxing for an eagerly anticipated rematch with Diaz, whom he stopped in three rounds when they fought for the BMF belt at UFC 244 in November 2019.
Masvidal is still contracted to the UFC and plans to return one day.
However, he wants to have at least three fights in the ring beforehand.
The 39-year-old has named Chael Sonnen on his hitlist after being called out by the MMA icon following his boxing debut draw with Anderson Silva last weekend.
“I’ll just do Chael real quick to stay busy,” Masvidal told talkSPORT MMA.
“Chael can’t box, bro. This guy is a punk. And you know well have to do heavyweight and I’ll have to sign a clause that I can only use my lead hand.
“That guy’s not going to want to box me, I’m going to f****** break his face.”
Masvidal believes Logan Paul is the ideal opponent to face after Diaz.
He added: “I would like Logan Paul.
“You know, he had some good moments with [Floyd] Mayweather, he did hurt him a few times. Obviously, we’d break the internet and sell a ton [of pay-per-views].
“That way I’d get the chance to get my feet more wet in boxing.”
‘Street Jesus’ says that his ultimate goal is to challenge legends like Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao, who were the two best fighters of their generation.
“The third fight, Floyd Mayweather of Manny Pacquiao is what I would like to do,” Masvidal said.
“You know, bite down on my mouthpiece and go in there with one of those greats and f****** throw down.
“Hats off to [Francis] Ngannou, he just stepped in and said, ‘Tyson Fury, let’s go! Anthony Joshua, let’s go!’
“Me, I just want to learn the craft because I’ve been doing MMA for 20 years.
“I know how to fight but boxing is a little different. You stand different, and the range is different, so the more time I have to process this information is better for me.
“I wouldn’t mind Logan Paul in the next one. Break pay-per-view records, do all that s***, set a lot of money aside and then Mayweather or Pacquiao or something f***ing massive.”
