Former Masters champion Jon Rahm revealed a close friend was cold towards him at Augusta National after his move to LIV Golf.
Rahm reunited with his former colleagues on the PGA Tour for the first time since a stunning £333million move to the controversial Saudi-backed breakaway tour in December.
The Spaniard, who won the Masters in 2023, hosted the Champions Dinner on Tuesday night with a combination of PGA Tour loyalists and LIV Golf rebels in the room.
After finishing his defence on nine-over par and nowhere near the leaders, Rahm was asked whether he got a warm reception from other golfers in Georgia.
“Some did. I expected it,” he told Spanish golf journalist Hugo Costa.
“And then, there was someone else who I expected to be a little tougher… and one of them hugged me.
“I think that, among all the relationships I have, it has been everything what I expected. My friends are still my friends.
“And then someone, with whom I was very cordial and had a positive relationship, has not even looked at me.
“If someone changes their opinion of me, it is more their problem than mine. I am not worried.
“I knew it was going to happen. I didn’t know who.”
While it is not clear who Rahm is talking about, he previously revealed Tiger Woods was not responding to his texts but Rory McIlroy had been supportive of his lucrative move to LIV Golf.
Speaking to ESPN in January, the world no.3 said: “Rory has been supportive publicly of my decision, and he was privately as well. Tiger, not really.”
