It was bound to be an entertaining press conference between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Deji, but people didn’t expect John Fury to steal the show.
At London’s most iconic and historic boxing venue, York Hall, Mayweather Jr and Deji came face to face at their press conference ahead of their fight on November 13 in Dubai.
On the undercard, Tommy Fury, the younger brother of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, fights Paul Bamba in the hopes of moving his professional record on to 9-0.
Joining Tommy on stage for the press conference was his dad, John Fury, who is known as a volatile character and he lived up to his reputation.
As Tommy was speaking about his upcoming fight with Bamba, he was interrupted by one of his former opponents and a teammate of Jake Paul, Anthony Taylor, who also features on the undercard against former Love Island star, Jack Fincham.
Taylor suggested that he deserves a rematch with Tommy and that they should be fighting on November 13 rather than Bamba.
John did not take kindly to his son being interrupted, as he stood up, took off his jacket and began to approach Taylor, until fortunately for the 5 foot 7 American, security held him back.
As for the main event, Deji does not seem to have particularly high hopes for his clash with Mayweather Jr, as he revealed that his only ambition is to ‘land a punch’.
“I’m looking to land a punch,” Deji said, “that would be amazing of course against the best defensive fighter in the world.
“So, I’m looking to have fun, I’m looking to showcase my skills and show what YouTubers can do.
“Me being in there with Floyd is only going to enhance my skills in boxing and push me further up the ladder.
“Then I’m going to keep dominating the YouTube boxing scene after.
“Me fighting Floyd in itself is a W, I’m not afraid of what’s to come. If you’re scared of getting knocked out, you shouldn’t be fighting.”
