Tiger Woods is convinced Rory McIlroy will inevitably complete a Grand Slam and finally win The Masters.
The 24-year-old reacted to his statement by admitting it was ‘flattering’ to hear as he looks to win the famous Green Jacket at Augusta.
McIlroy, who finished in second spot in The Masters two years ago, is one of the favourites to scoop success this weekend.
Five-time Masters champion Woods is a huge admirer of McIlroy, and boldly predicted him to complete a Grand Slam in the future.
Speaking in Tuesday’s press conference, he said: “No question he’ll do it at some point. Rory is too talented and too good.
“He’s going to be playing this event for a long time, he’ll get it done. It’s just a matter of when.

“I think that Rory will be a great Masters champion one day and it could be this week, you never know.
“The talent that he has, the way that he plays the game, it’s just a matter of time.”
McIlroy was left delighted by the praise when giving his reaction to the media, as he stated: “It’s flattering.
“It’s nice to hear [from] in my opinion – the best player to have ever played the game – say something like that.
“Does that mean that it’s going to happen? Obviously not.
“But he’s been around the game long enough to know that I at least have the potential to do it.
“And I know I’ve got the potential to do it too, it’s not as if I haven’t been a pretty good player for the last couple of decades.
“But it’s nice to hear it when it comes out of his mouth.”
The prestigious Masters is the only major missing from McIlroy’s trophy case.
He’s already won the US Open (2011), PGA Championship (2012 and 2014) and The Open (2014).
McIlroy’s best previous chance at winning the Masters was in 2011.
But that dream of a Green Jacket collapsed as he shot 80 on the final day.
The 34-year-old McIlroy enters the 2024 Masters ranked second in the Official World Golf Rankings.
