Tim Means has urged Dana White to keep the same lucrative bonuses adopted at UFC 300.
UFC 300 was a record-breaking event and became one of the highest grossing events in history, including bringing in around $16.5 million from ticket sales alone.
As a result, fighters on the anniversary event were handed performance-based bonuses of $300,000, as accustomed to the traditional $50,000 payments on offer for a normal fight card.
Means will take on fellow 170lbs contender Uros Medic on the main card of UFC Vegas this weekend, and he has suggested that fighters should command an equally lucrative reward.
He said on the event’s media day: “I hope you all keep the same energy and show up with $300,000 bonuses. Don’t mess around.
“Let’s talk about it. Let’s at least sit down in a room when we do the rules meeting on Saturday night, and let’s have a discussion.
“You can’t go back, you know? It’s not bragging if you back it up. For real, what are we doing?
“We’re just talking about it here. Keep it the same, same energy. You want to see some fun fights in the Apex?
“Guys always show up to throw hooks. These shows are usually funner than most pay-per-views.”
The UFC’s new ‘BMF’ champion Max Holloway pocketed a $300,000 Performance of the Night bonus for his incredible final-minute stoppage of Justin Gaethje.
He also added another $300,000 to his fund with himself and Gaethje awarded a Fight of the Night bonus for their incredible collision on the main card.
It was not the first time that White elected to raise bonuses, with UFC 100 in 2009 seeing the president double the long-standing $50,000.
But he refused to do the same for the following UFC 200 centenary pay-per-view, which is a sign that he won’t make any drastic changes to the existing structure moving forward.
Means has always delivered entertainment throughout his career, and that is a key reason why he would back himself to clinch the financial incentive.
He earned the Fight of the Night bonus for his previous outing where he scored a huge final round KO of Andre Fialho at UFC Vegas 79 in September 2023.
