Scottie Scheffler is the hottest name in golf right now, but his inclusion in the 2024 PGA Championship is far from certain.
The American became a two-time Masters win with a stunning display in Augusta last month, but he missed the Wells Fargo Championship over the weekend.
And with the prestigious PGA Championship looming, it’s possible the world number one might sit this one out as well.
Is Scheffler playing at the 2024 PGA Championship?
Reports have suggested Scheffler will be involved at Valhalla and he is listed in the field but there is no official confirmation from him of his team yet.
He missed the Wells Fargo Championship because his wife, Meredith, has been expecting the birth of the pair’s first child.
However, Sports Illustrated’s golf reporter, Bob Harig, has said the baby has been born, and Scheffler is set to compete at the PGA Championship.
The 27-year-old is currently on the interview schedule for the PGA Championship, which suggests he’ll be involved.
Of course, his inclusion in this tournament isn’t guaranteed until someone officially confirms it, but the signs are Scheffler’s wife has delivered their child, and the American should play.
But if these reports aren’t true and the baby hasn’t been born, you can expect Scheffler to miss this event.
This is because he plans to prioritise his family over golf.
Speaking after his latest win at The Masters, he said: “I definitely will enjoy the birth of my first child, and my priorities will change very soon, so golf will be fourth in line.
“But I still love competing. I don’t plan on taking my eye off the ball any time soon.”
So, it’s all a bit up in the air at the moment.
