First it was Canelo and now it’s Floyd Mayweather Jr – Jake Paul has some lofty ambitions when it comes to boxing.
Much of this confidence most likely comes from the fact that last weekend Paul overcame the toughest test of his career to date by beating UFC legend, Anderson Silva, by unanimous decision.
Since the fight, Paul has teased a number of potential future opponents, including pound-for-pound star, Canelo, UFC fighter, Nate Diaz, and now the self proclaimed ‘TBE’ (The Best Ever) Mayweather.
“It would be interesting, still, to actually fight Floyd, though, in an actual professional bout,” Paul said on The MMA Hour.
“First of all, that’s still a big fight and still a massive, massive draw.
“And if it was an actual pro match, I think people would be super, super interested.”
While it is not outside of the realm of possibility that Mayweather would fight Paul, considering he has already fought his brother Logan and he has an upcoming bout with YouTuber Deji on November 13, ‘Money’ says he is only interested in exhibition bouts nowadays, not professional contests.
There is also the issue of weight given that Paul is considerably bigger than Mayweather, but the social media star turned boxer believes this is something they could work out.
“I could get to 175lbs and Floyd could weigh 165lbs and a commission would approve that,” Paul said.
“I just know that I would win. I would love to take his 0.
“And it would be a massive fight as far as pay-per-views are concerned.”
This fight would also be a chance for both men to settle their beef, which stems from when Mayweather Jr was fighting Logan and at one of the media days, Jake decided to steal his hat leading to a mass brawl.
Instead of fighting Mayweather Jr, however, Logan believes that his younger brother should hang up his gloves and step away from boxing on a high, but Jake is not interested in stopping anytime soon.
“My brother says I should retire [after Anderson Silva win],” Paul revealed.
“But, I’m not gonna do that. I think this is just the start. I’m really starting to get good.
“There’s a lot of people that I want to beat and I wanna be a world champion.”
