Tyson Fury is leaving no stone unturned in preparation for his undisputed fight with Oleksandr Usyk.
The fierce rivals square off on May 18 in Saudi Arabia for all four heavyweight world titles.
They had been scheduled to meet on February 17 but the fight was pushed back by a month after Fury suffered a cut in sparring.
Unsubstantiated claims began to circulate around the boxing rumour mill that Fury had been struggling in training prior to the delay.
However, ‘The Gypsy King’ insists he was working extremely hard before the postponement and appears to be putting in just as much effort for his current camp.
The Mancunian was in his Morecambe Bay gym on Saturday morning for another gruelling session and uploaded a video to social media of himself shadowboxing in the ring.
Fury looked light on his feet as he threw a flurry of punches but several fans raised concerns about his appearance.
Reacting to the video, one fan wrote: “Looks like he gained the weight back.”
Another tweeted: “Looks bigger than he did a month or two ago.”
A third added: “Looking unfit bruh.”
Not everyone thought the same though.
One supporter commented: “Such great feet … and even better when his size is taken into consideration. No substitute for great feet placement in boxing.”
A second said: “Tyson Fury is smarter than people realise. He was in incredible shape in February for Usyk, but we heard rumours of him being dropped in sparring and how ‘light’ he is. Now we’re heading into May, he’s put some lean muscle on his legs & he’s added weight on his belly. Smart.”
Meanwhile, another stated: “Pleased to see he’s taking it seriously because he needs to.”
Fury certainly seemed as if he was taking the Usyk fight seriously when he took to the stage for his press conference earlier this month.
The man who sat before assembled media at The Mazuma Stadium in Morecambe looked completely different to the one who laboured to a controversial split decision win over Francis Ngannou last October.
talkSPORT’s Spencer Oliver picked up on the noticeable shift as he watched on from the sidelines.
“It was all positive, he looked in great shape, he sounded great. And a happy fighter is a dangerous fighter. Tyson Fury definitely seemed happy, ” Oliver told talkSPORT.com.
“He seemed in a really good place if I’m totally honest, there were all positive signs up there for him… this is a different man to the guy who fought Ngannou.”
