The second weekend of the Premier League season kicks off with a thrilling-looking affair on Saturday lunchtime as Brighton, arguably the most impressive team from the opening weekend with their 3-0 win at Everton, host top four hopefuls Manchester United.
Both teams kick off the new season with victories in their opening clashes, the same of which can’t be said for the London derby taking place at 3pm as Crystal Palace host West Ham, with both sides nursing a 2-1 loss in last week’s clashes.
Elsewhere in the capital city at 3pm, Fulham host newly-promoted Leicester for their first home game of the new campaign as they seek their first points of the new term following defeat at Old Trafford last week, while the Foxes rescued a point from their match with Tottenham.
Four-time defending Premier League champions Manchester City welcome newly-promoted Ipswich to the Etihad for the visitors’ first away game in the top flight since 2002.
A potentially huge game between two relegation candidates takes place at St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday afternoon as Southampton host Nottingham Forest with both sides tipped to struggle to maintain their Premier League status this season.
The final 3pm game sees Tottenham host Everton with both teams still looking for their first wins of the season.
The standout match of the weekend undoubtedly sees two of last season’s top four go head-to-head as Aston Villa welcome Arsenal to Villa Park, in the Gunners’ first test of their title credentials for the new campaign, having been beaten twice by the Villans last term.
Sunday sees Newcastle make the long trip down to the Dorset coast to take on Bournemouth at 2pm, at which time Chelsea’s visit to Wolves will also start, with both sides looking for their first points of the season after 2-0 defeats to each of the two title favourites.
The final match of the Premier League weekend sees Arne Slot’s first game in charge of Liverpool at Anfield, with the Reds taking on a Brentford side who earned a hard-fought victory over Crystal Palace in an opening day London derby last weekend.
