Gervonta Davis and Floyd Mayweather are seemingly now feuding once again.
For a large part of his career to date, Davis’ was Floyd’s protégé and fought under his Mayweather Promotions banner.
However, they had a fractious relationship after Davis first became a world champion in 2017.
As a result, in late 2022, Davis split from Mayweather Promotions and went his own way under the guidance of existing adviser Al Haymon.
There were times in the five-year spell before their split when Davis and Mayweather appeared side-by-side and presented a united front.
But there were also been times where pair were quite clearly at loggerheads, firing not-so-subtle shots at one another via the media or online.
Even last year, when he was training for the Ryan Garcia fight, Davis accused Mayweather of kicking him out of his gym and preventing him from training properly.
When the fight came around itself though, Mayweather was back supporting Davis and celebrated the win with him.
Now, they seem to be feuding once again.
On Friday morning, Davis took to social media to share a video of Mayweather which he believes is directed at him.
In the clip, Mayweather said: “A lot of times what these fighters are looking at – they’re looking Floyd with the cars, they’re looking at Floyd being flashy.
“Man listen, I made so many sacrifices. Y’all are looking at the end results.
“And [when I was] champion having hundreds of millions in the bank, I still was on my grind in that gym.
“Y’all are worried about your outfits, how your boots look, worried about the wrong things. A lot of you fighters are living cheque to cheque.”
Davis, adamant Mayweather’s comments were about him, has fired back on Instagram: “N***a says all this bulls***, but [he’s] in Dubai and can’t leave because he’s been taking n***as’ money and not doing what they paid him to do. N***a a f***ing hater.”
On Twitter a fan said to Davis: “Let me find out Floyd being held hostage in Dubai.”
To which Davis replied: “He gotta pay people that money back. If I’m lying tell him to go live right now. He’s been stuck over there for a minute too.”
Mayweather is yet to respond to Davis’ remarks.
