Gary Lineker had the BBC studio awkwardly chuckling along to a dirty-minded joke about Cristiano Ronaldo on Friday.
Ronaldo made what could be his last-ever appearance at a European Championship as Portugal crashed out on penalties to France in the quarter-finals.
The 39-year-old converted his spot-kick but missed a golden opportunity from eight yards out in extra time.
That was despite deploying two masseurs, one for each leg, after the match finished goalless in normal time.
It sparked a comment from Ronaldo’s former Manchester United teammate Rio Ferdinand, before what appeared to be a crude sex-related joke from ex-England striker Lineker.
Ferdinand said: “He’s got two masseurs on. One for each leg. What’s going on there?”
Host Lineker responded: “Thankfully, he’s not got three.”
Ferdinand and ex-Premier League midfielder Jermaine Jenas burst out laughing as former Portugal defender Jose Fonte tried to move on swiftly.
“Gary, I think… Can I [move on]?” Fonte said.
“Please, please!” Jenas joked in response as the pundits could be heard giggling.
Lineker’s gag quickly went viral on social media and one user said: “Nah Gary Lineker is wild for that.”
It is not the first time the BBC have grabbed extra attention for their coverage of Ronaldo in Germany.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner was in floods of tears after missing a penalty against Slovakia in the round of 16.
When analysing the failed spot-kick, the broadcaster drew criticism for using the caption ‘Misstiano Penaldo’.
Ex-England captain John Terry branded it a ‘disgrace’ while talkSPORT’s Gabby Agbonlahor and Jeff Stelling were also left unamused.
