Eagle-eyed boxing fans caught Frank Warren getting a bit irate after Tyson Fury’s defeat to Oleksandr Usyk.
The Hall of Fame promoter was understandably upset to see Fury suffer a split decision loss in his undisputed WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBF heavyweight title bout.
However, it was something else that got him riled up post-fight.
As Fury was giving an interview in the ring, a member of Usyk’s team was trying to cool down the Ukrainian by spitting water directly into his face.
The water bounced off Usyk and sprayed in the direction of Warren, who took issue after being hit by sprinkles of water for the second time in quick succession.
Warren initially tells the man to stop what he’s doing before pointing his finger and raising his voice when Usyk’s pal does it again.
It appears he got the message after being told off by the 72-year-old.
While Warren was bickering with Team Usyk, Fury was explaining why he thinks he won the fight and suggesting he would trigger the rematch clause in his contract.
The Queensberry boxing boss agreed with his fighter’s assessment that the split decision should’ve gone the other way.
“I agreed with the judge who gave it to [Fury],” Warren told The Stomping Ground.
“I thought he could’ve won it by one of two rounds but it’s subjective the score and we aren’t going to be cry-babies about it.
“The result is what it is. It was a magnificent fight. It was all that the greatest or biggest fight of this century should be.
Warren refused to be drawn on talk of a potential rematch but did say he will fully back Fury whatever he decides to do next.
He added when asked if Fury wants the rematch: “That’s up to him.”
“As I said, he’s been in training camp since December. Six months solid. How many fighters do that? That’s what he’s been doing the postponement.
“He needs time out. He needs to go spend some time with his family and not talk about boxing. Forget about boxing.
“I know Tyson very well and when he’s ready he’ll phone up and he’ll say what he wants to do. Whatever he wants to do, I’ll wholeheartedly support him.”
