Arsenal cult hero Lukas Podolski has drafted in iconic American boy band Backsreet Boys to headline at his upcoming music festival.
The 38-year-old, who currently plies his trade in Poland for Gornik Zabrze, has earned a £180million fortune thanks to his ventures into the kebab and ice cream industry.
Podolski launched his dessert brand Ice Cream United in 2017, before following that up with his first Mangal Doner chain the following year.
There are now over 30 of his kebab branches across Germany, with four being in his beloved Cologne, where he came through the club’s academy.
And last year, the 2014 World Cup winner created Glucksgefuhle Festival alongside business partner Markus Krampe.
It turned out to be a huge hit, with over 135,000 people visiting the jamboree in Hockenheimring in Baden-Wurttemberg to make it Germany’s largest festival.
Over 200,000 people are expected to be in attendance this time round for the festival that runs from September 12-15.
And none other than the 90s favourites Backstreet Boys – nominated nine times for a Grammy Award – will be headlining at the Euphoria Stage.
It is the only Germany concert the band – famous for their hits ‘I Want It That Way’ and ‘Everybody’ – will be performing in this year, with Lost Frequencies and Martin Garrix also to feature.
Fans will also be able to take part in football tournaments at the festival, along with racing at a go-kart track, with a Ferris wheel and carousel to also be set up.
Those wishing to attend the festival will have to fork out £68 for a day ticket, while they will have to splash out £162 for a weekend pass.
Podolski joined the Gunners in 2012 and quickly became a huge fan favourite – scoring 16 goals in all competitions in his opening season.
The forward then helped end Arsenal’s nine-year trophy drought where he started in the 3-2 FA Cup final win over Hull in 2014.
He fell down the pecking order under Arsene Wenger during his third campaign, leading to him being loaned to Inter Milan during the 2015 winter transfer window.
And he was then sold to Galatasaray that summer, but despite only being at the club for three years, he remains a popular figure amongst the Arsenal fanbase.
