Liverpool have been beaten to the post announcing their first signing of the summer.
The player himself, Federico Chiesa, shared his excitement at joining Liverpool before the deal was even confirmed.
Speaking before flying out to England, Chiesa said: “I’m very happy, I can’t wait to become new Liverpool player. Me and my family, we’re so happy really.
“Let me say thanks to Juventus and the fans, they have been always special with me.”
“Now it’s time for Liverpool, I’m so happy. I can’t wait!”
talkSPORT understands the Reds have agreed a £10million deal, including £2.5m in possible add-ons, to sign the Italy star.
Chiesa is expected to sign a four-year deal after completing a medical, which is already booked in.
He will become their first signing of the entire summer, just 48 hours before the end of the transfer window, after the club failed to sign top target Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.
The 26-year-old was a star player for the Italy team which won Euro 2020 and his cut-price fee is mostly down to a rotten injury record.
After his exploits at Euro 2020, Chiesa joined Juventus from Fiorentina a year later after spending two years on loan with the Old Lady.
In recent years, he has suffered 22 different injuries in total, the worst being a cruciate ligament tear, which left him sidelined for 45 matches over 269 days in the 2021/22 season.

- UEFA Nations League third place (x2) : 2020–21, 2022–23
- Coppa Italia (x2) : 2020–21, 2023–24
Last season, however, he set a new personal record by scoring nine goals in 33 appearances in Serie A.
Comments he made in May 2022 suggest he’ll have a high approval rating in the Kop having revealed his admiration for Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.
During a Serie A match between Juventus and Lazio, during which Chiesa was sat in the stands, he player was asked who he’d prefer to have in his midfield out of Gerrard, Frank Lampard and Paul Scholes.
After some careful consideration, Chiesa responded: “Stevie G.”
