The Masters is praised annually for its old-school beauty and prestige.
Lush green grass, blooming azaleas and a classic Southern feel saturate the famous Augusta National course, while golfers such as Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy love returning to the tournament.
Another big part of what makes the Masters so special: cheap food.
It’s also an annual tradition for fans to go crazy in person and on social media as the tournament’s food prices are revealed.
In a day and age when food is more expensive than ever — especially if you buy a beer or a hamburger at an NFL game — the sight of a delicious chicken sandwich being sold for $3 at a major American professional sporting event can be unbelievable.
“Best food prices in all of sports,” one fan tweeted.
“HAS ANYONE NOTICED HOW LOW THE PRICES ARE!” a second fan posted.
“Husband’s favorite is the egg salad,” a third fan wrote.
The famous egg salad sandwich only costs $1.50 at the Masters, while ham and cheese on rye is £3 and a Crow’s Nest drink is $6.
That’s a huge bargain in 2024.
Especially when compared to some of the stunning adult beverage prices at the Grand National horse race at Aintree Racecourse.
A pint of famous Guinness costs £7.50 ($9.38), while a simple bottle of water sets you back £2.90 ($3.63).
In general, financial inflation is still a serious issue in the United States and United Kingdom.
But it’s obvious that the best way to save on food costs is to watch the Masters in person every year.
If you can get a ticket — and afford a place to stay in Augusta during one of the most prestigious sporting events in the world.
Bryson DeChambeau led the 2024 Masters with a scorching 65 after Thursday’s first-round action.
Woods is among the golfers still looking to complete the first round on Friday, after opening tee times were delayed due to bad weather.
Throw in the $1.50 pimento cheese sandwich, and it’s easy to be envious of Masters attendees.
“So sorry I am not there this year!!” one fan tweeted.
So are Grand National supporters paying more than $9 for a pint of Guinness.
