Manchester City’s stars were left furious when fans invaded the pitch before full time in their Premier League title decider.
Pep Guardiola’s side recorded a fourth-straight title with a 3-1 victory over West Ham at the Etihad Stadium.
While Arsenal won 2-1 against Everton, City secured the title with a two-point lead over Mikel Arteta’s side.
Securing the title felt inevitable as the minutes ticked by, but fans were a little bit premature in their celebrations as many encroached on the pitch with a couple of minutes left in stoppage time.
As expected, Man City’s stars were keen to finish the match in order to make their title success official, leading to an angry confrontation.
Bernardo Silva led the appeals of the Man City stars, before Erling Haaland and Ruben Dias got involved to express their frustrations at the fans.
As supporters temporarily made their way off the pitch, City were able to see out the game before the referee’s final whistle saw the celebrations begin.
Fans them stormed the pitch in their thousands, leading to Haaland and his teammates sprinting from the pitch.
While some headed straight down the tunnel, Kyle Walker, Phil Foden, Rodri and others celebrated by the tunnel as stewards formed a protective shield from the supporters who occupied the pitch.
Those celebrations continued in the dressing room, as the club attempted to usher fans off the pitch so that the official trophy celebration could begin.
A lengthy stoppage followed as the pitch was cleared so that players could eventually celebrate with the fans.
