It’s not just the UK getting battered by miserable summer weather – Germany is not fairing much better.
While many of us are braving the cold in outside beer gardens watching England’s Euro 2024 semi-final, spare a thought for some of those inside the stadium.
Okay, so we know you may not have too much sympathy for those actually in the Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund tonight. They are seeing England in a major semi-final after all.
Those in attendance are getting absolutely drenched after forecasts delivered on earlier predictions expecting huge downpours.
This is also bad news for those English, and Dutch, fans inside the stadium right now because they have significant issues with their roof. It is leakier than Scotland’s defence.
That was on full display for Germany’s 2-0 win over Denmark during their last-16 clash.
A thunderstorm surrounding the stadium caused referee Michael Oliver to suspend the match for a brief period.
Torrential rain and hail battered the area, with water seen cascading from the roof and drenching supporters.
Some Danish fans made the most of it, however, and were seen dancing in the newly-created waterfalls.
A similar thing happened earlier in the tournament during the Turkey vs Georgia match.
It seems that Old Trafford is not the only stadium with a roof issue that needs fixing.
The players, however, will be unfussed with what the weather is doing during the match – which is live on talkSPORT.
Gareth Southgate says his players are ready to make history.
“You’re now into that moment in the tournament where it’s what’s possible, what’s achievable, rather than what might go wrong,” boss Southgate said.
“This is now the chance to make history, which we’ve enjoyed doing. A chance to get to a first final not held in England – first time England will have ever done that.
“We’re trying to break new ground. That’s difficult and it’s complicated, but the players have responded brilliantly and resilience has been built.”
