Dana White was visibly shocked by a strange press conference question on Saturday night.
The UFC CEO was speaking with assembled reporters after his latest event in St. Louis, Missouri when a media member interrupted proceedings with an unusual request.
White was asked to set up a meeting between the reporter and Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone, who famously got knocked out by Conor McGregor in January 2020.
“I’ve got one little challenge for ‘Cowboy’ myself,” she said.
“If you notice this BMF brand on the top of my hat. Got that custom Branding Iron and I said I was going to let him brand me but now I just want to let him do it.
“So, what do you think about that? Can we make that happen?”
Naturally, White was shellshocked by a reporter asking him to arrange a meeting with Cerrone so he could burn his logo into her flesh.
He replied: “Did you say brand you? Brand you?
“You and ‘Cowboy’ were made for each other. You’re nuts!
“Can I make it happen? There’s no way in hell I’d make that happen. You’re crazy!”
The MMA mogul was intrigued by the bizarre request, so he probed for more information from the woman, who confirmed she wanted to be branded on the shoulder for ‘clout’.
White concluded: “You look like a really sweet lady, the last thing you need to do is get branded.”
Footage of the strange exchange quickly went viral on social media.
Fans were left wondering how she managed to gain media access.
Veteran MMA reporter Ariel Helwani claimed her cameo at UFC St. Louis was a sad reflection of the state of reporting of a sport that is getting bigger and better every year.
He tweeted: “This is what the UFC wants at their “press conferences.”
“Make no mistake about it. The sport has come so far. It has evolved so much. The UFC is on fire. The athletes are more talented than ever.
“The “media,” however, has gone backwards. Embarrassing.”
