The first round of the 2024 NFL Draft is in the books.
Caleb Williams went No. 1 overall to the Bears, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs drafted the fastest player in NFL history and the Falcons stunned everyone by selecting QB Michael Penix Jr. with the eighth pick.
The second round of this year’s draft takes place in Detroit on Friday as the next group of prospects learn their fate.
Ahead of the second round, fans are remembering some iconic draft day moments over the past few years.
None are more memorable than CeeDee Lamb’s awkward interaction with his girlfriend Crymson Rose back in 2020.
Former Oklahoma wide receiver Lamb was sitting on his couch at home alongside his girlfriend on draft night that year.
Henry Ruggs III and Jerry Jeudy were selected 13th and 15th respectively and eventually Lamb slid towards the Dallas Cowboys at No. 17.
At one point, cameras cut to Lamb on the phone to Dallas when his girlfriend grabbed a second phone that received a call.
Before she could answer it, Lamb immediately snatched it back with one hand and shook his head while still on the call with the Cowboys.
Fans at the time went wild over the awkward moment and it’s once again resurfaced this year.
“Throw back to when CeeDee Lamb gave us the greatest moment in NFL draft history,” one person said while sharing the video to X.
“Still waiting for any NFLcDraft moment to be as funny as CeeDee Lamb snatching his phone back,” wrote another.
After the video took off, Rose took to X to explain what actually happened.
“His agent was FACETIMING him while he was on the phone with the Cowboys,” she tweeted.
“I was doing the GF thing. Gonna answer it for him. Sheesh.”
Lamb also jumped to his girl’s defense, posting: “Y’all really gotta chill. Wasn’t even like dat.”
Lamb hasn’t looked back since draft night and has emerged as one of the league’s brightest young wideouts.
He’s made two All-Pro teams and three Pro Bowls and finished as the NFL receptions leader in 2023.
Last year, the 25-year-old set team records for receptions (135, best in the NFL) and yards (1,749) while his 395 catches for 5,145 yards are the most in franchise history for a player through his first four NFL seasons.
He is now heading into the final year of his rookie contract and is yet to be extended.
Lamb is set to earn a guaranteed $17.99 million from his fifth-year option and will be looking to get paid following the news that Lions’ WR Amon-Ra St. Brown recently agreed to a four-year, $120 million extension.
The Cowboys also need to address other key contracts extensions this offseason including Dak Prescott and Micah Parsons.
