Conor McGregor’s latest social media post has confused fight fans.
‘Notorious’ is booked to make his long-awaited comeback against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29, but their fight is thought to be at risk of being called off.
Rumours began to swirl about McGregor being injured after a press conference to promote his first fight in three years was cancelled at the last minute.
The former dual-weight UFC champion recently hinted that he is dealing with a medical issue by sharing a picture of him on a treatment table.
In the early hours of Friday morning, McGregor attempted to dispel concerns about his health with a compilation of training and sparring footage.
The four-minute video shows him looking fit as a fiddle while drilling combinations, working on his wrestling defence and trading blows with various sparring partners.
For some fans, McGregor’s latest social media upload was enough to convince them he’s perfectly fine and his comeback bout will go ahead as planned.
One fan commented: “Bro just playing mind games with Chandler.”
Another said: “He’s a Genius he knows how to sell a fight he’s gonna take a W.”
A third person wrote: “Conor’s trolling everyone and some of y’all are falling for it. The man is just focused on knocking Chandler spark out.”
Someone else added: “The fight is on.”
McGregor and Dana White have remained silent on concerns about his clash with Chandler, who is still training in Florida, going ahead later this month.
However, veteran MMA reporter Ariel Helwani believes there is ‘great positivity’ about McGregor vs Chandler headlining UFC 303 despite a recent cause for concern.
“I can tell you as of last night, as of today, I can tell you there is great positivity that this fight is going forward,” he said on The MMA Hour.
“If you’re asking me right now is Conor McGregor going to fight Michael Chandler on June 29 – my answer is yes.
“As of right now, yes. Do I know what happens tomorrow? No. Do I know what happens the next day? No. But as of right now, the vibes could not be any more different than Sunday and Monday.
“The positivity could not be any greater than what I was hearing on those two days. It is so much higher now. There is great positivity and optimism that all systems are go.”
