Burnley v Brighton preview
Brighton make the trip to Lancashire on Saturday afternoon looking to get back to winning ways having gone three matches without a victory in the Premier League, winning just two of their last nine in all competitions, one of which being a 1-0 win in a 4-1 aggregate defeat in the Europa League.
Roberto de Zerbi’s side are one of several chasing the seventh and final European qualification spot for next season in the Premier League, and head into the weekend 10th in the table, five points off the top seven with a game in hand.
The Seagulls have won just one of their last 10 league matches away from home, dating all the back to November, with that solitary win coming against a Sheffield United side rock bottom of the table, and will need to improve that record if they wish to qualify for European football next season.
Burnley head into the weekend in 19th place in the Premier League table, six points from safety and a far inferior goal difference to the teams above them, with just four matches of the season to play.
Burnley’s manager Vincent Kompany will serve the first game of his two match ban on Saturday night, leaving Craig Bellamy to take charge of the team who have won just one match in all competitions since Christmas, a stretch spanning 15 matches.
The Clarets are seemingly destined for relegation next month after winning last season’s Championship at a canter, racking up a century of points, but will likely be back in the second tier come August if they continue failing to pick up wins.
Burnley have picked the fewest points at home out of all the top flight teams, winning just twice on their home patch all season and picking nine points from their 16 games at Turf Moor so far this campaign.
Four of the last seven matches between the two sides have ended in a draw, but Brighton have lost on only one of their last eight visits to Turf Moor in the last 12 years.
📝 Burnley v Brighton betting tips
Betfair have boosted a handful of their odds ahead of Saturday afternoon’s match, including those for Brighton star Pascal Gross to score or assist in the match, which is now available at 13/8.
Brighton head into the match as odds on favourites, and the same bookie’s boost of Brighton to win, take the most corners and receive the fewest cards now at 8/1 looks a valuable pick.
