Brentford v Sheffield United preview
Brentford head into this weekend’s crunch Premier League clash looking for their first win in 10 matches having not picked up three points, earning just two wins in their last 21 matches in all competitions.
Thomas Frank’s side were sat in 16th place in the Premier League table at the start of the week, but gained a position in the standings following Everton’s second points deduction of the season earlier in the week.
Just four points separates the Bees from the relegation zone heading into the weekend, leaving them still in the conversation for going down, but a win on Saturday, and a potential seven point gap with five games to play should all but confirm their survival.
The west London side have won just one of their last nine matches at their home stadium, though come up against the side with the worst away record in the league on Saturday, leaving a great opportunity for Brentford to end their winless run.
Sheffield United remain tied to the bottom of the Premier League table, and head into the weekend nine points adrift from safety whilst also holding by far the worst goal difference in the top flight.
Chris Wilder’s side have won just one of their last 15 matches in the Premier League and are without a win in their last seven matches, so must start adding to their win tally, currently standing at three from 31 games, should they have any chance of retaining the Premier League status.
Away from home, the Blades have only picked up six points from their 15 Premier League matches, at least four fewer than any other side in the top flight.
The Yorkshire side do have a game in hand over the teams around them but that counts for nothing if they continue to go winless in their remaining matches.
Sheffield United have won four of their last five matches against Brentford and are unbeaten in their last six against the Bees in the last 10 years.
