KSI continues to break boundaries with his his promotional company, Misfits Boxing – and this time he has gone full WWE.
Misfits Boxing’s next show will come on March 4 and it will feature YouTubers Jay Swingler vs Nich Lmao in the main event, but it is the undercard that is stealing the headlines.
KSI teased the announcement on Monday, when he tweeted: “This Monday, Misfits is gonna change boxing forever.
“This has NEVER been done before on the big stage. Watch this space…”
Then came the reveal, as Misfits Boxing tweeted out that they would be putting on a tag team boxing match.
“Double Trouble,” Misfits Boxing said. “Ground-breaking TAG TEAM fight goes down in Telford, live on @mf_daznxseries, as former foes combine.”
This is in reference to the fact that one of the tag team pairs features former opponents, Luis Alcaraz Pineda and BDave.
Pineda, who is also a former KSI opponent, beat BDave by decision on KSI’s undercard when he knocked out Faze Temperrr earlier this year.
They will be coming up against Stromedy and Austin Sprinz, who previously fought each other in March last year, with the former emerging victorious.
There will be standard boxing rules for the fighters in the ring, but it has not yet been revealed how the boxers will be allowed to tag each other in and out.
KSI reacted to the news of the tag team fight, saying, “Boxing purists ain’t gonna like this one.”
Mams Taylor, KSI’s manager, spoke about the idea on the Misfits Boxing YouTube channel, saying: “People will hate on it, people will love it, some will understand, some won’t.
“But at the end of the day this is what Misfits is about. We’ve got serious competition in there, we have fun, we have antics, we have sports entertainment and that’s what we’re about.
“So get used to it, love it, lump it, whatever you want. But we’re here to stay and make some noise in an area which it’s never been done before. Real combat sports, with real entertainment on another level.”
And it appears Misfits Boxing truly are here to stay, as they recently signed a five year deal with broadcaster DAZN, that will guarantee at least six Misfits & DAZN: X Series events per year including two pay-per-view shows.
