Curmel Moton continued his rapid ascent to boxing stardom with a 55-second knockout on Saturday night.
Floyd Mayweather’s latest young protégé took a slot on his mentor’s undercard.
Mayweather is now retired and spends most of his time living a life of luxury.
However, he occasionally puts his famous gloves back on for lucrative exhibition bouts around the world.
On Saturday night, he had one of these contests in Mexico and Moton had a professional fight on the undercard.
At just 18, Moton has already become a starlet with Mayweather’s backing.
His exciting fighting style has seen him quickly become a fan favourite and many tuned in to see his fifth pro fight.
It didn’t last long though as Moton knocked out Victor Vazquez in just 55 seconds.
He put his opponent down with a destructive combination.
Vazquez made it back to his feet, but was on unsteady legs.
The referee made a wise call and ended the contest then and there, before a full minute had even passed.
Fans had mixed views on the fight, with some impressed by the quick finish.
One wrote: “Nah, was that even a whole minute for Curmel? Lol.”
A second commented: “Blinked and missed the Curmel stoppage.”
A third simply put: “Curmel is the future.”
And a fourth said: “I was talking to my son and missed the whole thing smh.”
In contrast, there was some criticism at the level of opposition Moton was put up against.
One boxing fan insisted: “He fought a nobody.”
A second said: “Dude had no business fighting Curmel. Hasn’t fought in 6 years and he was WAY too small smh.”
While a third wrote: “They’ve really gone backwards with his opposition level. Hopefully reverts back to the high standard his VERY promising career deserves.”
And a fourth commented: “Glad they stopped it dude could of gotten Badly hurt.”
