India’s number one-ranked boxer Neeraj Goyat will face Brazilian YouTube star Whindersson Nunes on the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson undercard.
Goyat was initially in talks to box former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo on the card, which is set to take place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on July 20.
However, that fight fell through after the MMA superstar agreed to take on Jonathan Martinez at UFC 301 in May.
Aldo went on to win the bout via unanimous decision while Goyat has since been matched up with Nunes.
Nunes, known musically as Lil Whind, is a YouTuber, comedian, musician, actor and now boxer.
He took up the sweet science in 2019, competing once as an amateur in his native Brazil before returning to the sport three years later to box in a series of exhibition bouts, where he went 2-1-1.
The 29-year-old then turned over as a professional but lost his debut earlier this year to fellow YouTuber My Mate Nate over the distance.
In stark contrast, Goyat holds a pro boxing record of 18-4-2 including eight wins coming by way of knockout.
Goyat has a large supporter base in his home country but is otherwise only known in boxing circles for being scheduled to face Amir Khan in 2019.
In the end, their fight never took place as Goyat sustained ‘serious injuries’ in a car accident two weeks before the event.
After a two-year hiatus, he resumed his career and recently lost his biggest fight to date against former world title challenger Jose Zepeda in March last year.
His career has stagnated since, although it is set to reignite again now that he has signed with Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions.
“I couldn’t be more excited to make my MVP debut on what promises to be the biggest boxing event in history,” said Goyat.
“With millions of fans back home in India watching my every move, I’m not just fighting for myself; I’m fighting to make history and make my country proud.
“Thank you to Nakisa and the entire MVP team and of course Netflix for this opportunity to shine on the biggest stage imaginable. I hope all Indians around the world tune in for this historic event.”
Elsewhere on the bill, Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano rematch for the undisputed lightweight titles, while former three-weight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr takes on UFC veteran Darren Till after American prospects Ashton Slyve and Floyd Schofield duke it out earlier in the night.
All of the action is being streamed live on Netflix with the controversial professional bout between Paul and Tyson topping what promises to be one of the most-watched cards in boxing history.
