Bare-knuckle boxer Lorenzo Hunt’s bid at history ended in disaster.
The former cruiserweight and middleweight Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship [BKFC] titleholder tried to become the promotion’s first three-weight champion on Saturday night.
However, his BKFC KnuckleMania 4 co-main event bout against heavyweight king Mike Terrill ended in a disaster.
Hunt, who entered the bout with an impressive 11-1 bare-knuckle boxing record, was dropped by a crisp uppercut in the very first round.
It appeared to be just a flash knockdown, but he suffered a serious injury as he fell to the floor and got his left arm caught behind his back.
Hunt’s elbow dislocated before the referee stepped in a waved off his fight with Terrill after just 108 seconds.
Footage of the ugly fight-ending incident quickly went viral on social media and it didn’t take long for fans to voice their disgust at the worrying injury.
One person tweeted: “Horrible.”
Another said: “That was f****** disgusting.”
Someone else wrote: “That was nasty.”
Rather than seek immediate medical attention, Hunt stood in the middle ring with someone holding his arm in place while the official decision was announced.
Post-fight, he insisted he wasn’t particularly hurt by his opponent and was only unable to continue fighting because he suffered an unlucky injury.
“I wasn’t hurt really bad, I could have got up and kept fighting,” Hunt said.
“My arm dislocated. It didn’t work out for me tonight. Every division is still on notice. You guys will see me again soon.”
Terrill wanted to make sure Hunt’s injury didn’t overshadow the fact that he was winning the fight and had just scored a heavy knockdown.
He added: “Obviously, Lorenzo broke his arm there. I won and that’s great. I like Lorenzo, but I did drop him with the uppercut when he broke his arm.”
Hunt must begin the long process of recovering from his injury.
Terrill will start looking for another opponent to defend his heavyweight title against after improving to 10-1 in the sport.
