Bare-knuckle boxer Sydney Smith saw the funny side after suffering devastating injuries in her latest fight.
The 32-year-old stepped up two weights classes on late notice to face Crystal Pittman at BKFC KnuckleMania 4 in Los Angeles on Saturday night.
Smith was caught with a monstrous overhand right in the opening moments of the bout and was finished by a series of follow-up shots as she covered up against the ropes.
Post-fight footage showed the Virginia brawler was missing a tooth and covered in bruises after being in the ring with Pittman for just 48 seconds.
A picture of Smith showing off her injuries for the camera quickly went viral on social media, but she was keen to assure fans that she was doing fine.
‘Sundance’ jokingly called herself ‘Frankenstein face’ and gave everyone a health update in a seven-minute video shared to her Instagram account after the fight.
“I just want to say thank you so much for the support,” Smith said.
“I’m going to ice my Frankenstein face, but other than that God is still good.
“Winning is great but I came up two weight classes on a weeks’ notice and you know. I’ll take an ass whooping before you tell me I’m scared. No problem.
“It is what it is. I went out there and I threw my hat in when other people didn’t. We live to fight another day, Hopefully, they have me back out super, super soon.
“I’m good. I just got caught with some stuff and started throwing back but I guess it was too late. Props to Crystal, she’s a sweetheart.
“It is what it is, you can’t win them all. I’ll be back soon. I’m fine. I’m good other than hurt pride and a little bit of a swollen face.
“I got caught with some stuff and just kind of turtled up for a second and then I started to throw back and the ref had already stepped in to call it.
“I’m sorry I didn’t put on a war for you guys, but the next one will be better.”
Smith started out as an MMA fighter and put together a 4-3 amateur record before losing her professional debut in the sport in 2023.
The strawweight star subsequently transitioned to bare-knuckle boxing and won her first bout, but now she’s on a two-fight losing streak.
Smith will need to give her body some time to heal before she takes another fight and tries to get her BKFC career back on track
