Over 3.5 goals, Mohamed Salah to score, Ollie Watkins to have 2+ shots on target – (was 11/2) NOW 13/2 – CLAIM HERE
Tonight’s match sees the three of the Premier League’s five highest scoring teams this season go head to head, in a fixture which has seen 21 goals scored in the last four meetings between the two sides at Villa Park, averaging more than five goals per game.
Mohamed Salah’s goal against Tottenham last weekend took him to 25 goals this season in just 42 appearances, a tally bettered by only three Premier League players though none have played fewer games than the Egyptian.
Meanwhile Erling Haaland is the only Premier League player to have scored more goals in all competitions this season than Ollie Watkins, who has 27 to his name this season.
Last weekend’s results mean that Liverpool are guaranteed a third-place finish in the Premier League this season, in what will be manager Jurgen Klopp’s final season at the club – tonight’s game being his penultimate outing.
The German manager may have failed to maintain their title challenge this campaign following a recent run of just one win in five league games, but has secured Champions League football for the club next season, having missed out in this campaign following their fifth placed finish last year.
The Merseyside club’s 4-2 victory over Champions League chasing Tottenham saw them get back to winning ways in their penultimate match at Anfield of the season, standing them in good stead to end their season on a high tonight and on Sunday against Wolves.
Meanwhile Aston Villa have the chance book themselves in the Champions League for next season for the first time in 42 years; a win tonight opening up an unassailable seven point lead over fifth-placed Tottenham.
Unai Emery’s side head into the match very much out of form though, having won only one of their last six matches in all competitions, which includes losing each of their last three, two of which coming in either leg of the Europa Conference League semi-final against Olympiacos.
Now without the distraction of a potential European title to win, the West Midlands side can focus fully on their final two matches of the league season, from which they need just three points to guarantee their place among Europe’s elite next season.
Liverpool have won six of their last seven matches against Aston Villa, whose last win against the Reds came in that incredible 7-2 victory at Villa Park during lockdown three seasons ago.
Liverpool have won on each of their last three visits to Villa Park.
