The second half of Aston Villa’s Europa Conference League clash with Olympiakos was delayed due to a medical emergency.
A fan located in Villa Park’s Holte End was taken ill, leading to a message being displayed to fans in section L2 to clear the area.
As supporters cleared the area, paramedics and stewards attended the fan in question, with TNT Sports reporting that the spectator had suffered a cardiac arrest.
Following a lengthy spell of treatment, the fan was stretchered out of the stand to the applause of the Aston Villa fans around them who appreciated the prompt medical treatment given.
As a result of the medical emergency, the second period of Villa’s clash was delayed, with the second half kicking off at 9:10 pm – ten minutes later than scheduled.
