For those of you who don’t remember, or have never heard of, Ron Caron, take it from us: the guy was a powder keg. His outbursts in press boxes around the NHL in response to questionable calls against the St. Louis Blues were legendary. If you weren’t alert, you might find yourself hit by a chair.
But Caron was also a genius. Along with his two division titles and 12 NHL playoff appearances, Caron acquired two members of the Blues’ Mount Rushmore. Even though they never won a Cup with Brett Hull and Al MacInnis, they were a feared offensive machine.
Under Mike Keenan, the Blues also got one of the NHL’s greatest defensemen of his generation. And under Doug Armstrong, they got a player who has consistently produced.
