Scottie Scheffler is a Masters champion once again.
The American finished the tournament -11 while fighting off stiff competition from the likes of Max Homa, Collin Morikawa and Ludvig Aberg to secure his second green jacket.
The world’s top-ranked golfer headed into the Masters as the pre-tournament favourite and lived up his billing with a four-shot victory.
Scheffler’s calm yet dominant performance drew praise from the sports world, including Chiefs superstar and golf aficionado, Patrick Mahomes.
The three-time Super Bowl winner tuned into the action on Sunday and his four-word post to X was a perfect summary of Scheffler’s afternoon.
“Scottie is so good #Masters2024,” the quarterback tweeted along with three crying laughter emojis.
Mahomes’ love of golf is no secret.
Last summer he competed in The Match – a head-to-head golf competition involving former pros and athletes – with Chiefs teammate Travis Kelce against Warriors superstar duo Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.
The NFL pros came out on top against the NBA pair, winning 3&2.
The signal caller also has his very own TaylorMade limited-edition Season Opener golf bag in emerald green.
The green-and-white bag features a ‘Patrick Mahomes’ monogram and the golf company’s logo and can fetch upwards of $1,000 on resale sites.
Scheffler captured his own green prize at Augusta National this weekend – the coveted Masters jacket.
It was his second win in three years and follows wins at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players this season.
However, the 27-year-old’s biggest prize in 2024 will be the birth of his first child.
Scheffler’s wife Meredith is pregnant and is expecting their first child in a matter of weeks.
All week long the golfer reiterated his stance that the birth of his child would take precedence over the Masters and that he would leave to be with his wife if he had to.
Luckily, the little one held out long enough for Scottie to win his second major championship.
The 2024 Masters champion fought back tears as he sent his partner a message after winning the prestigious event.
“I’m coming home. I’ll be home as quick as I can,” he said to his wife from Butler Cabin.
“I love you and I’m coming home.”
“You’re about to make me cry here in Butler Cabin. It’s a very special time for both of us,” he added.
“I can’t put into words what it means to win this tournament again and I really can’t put into words what it’s going to be like to be a father for the first time.
“Looking forward to getting home and celebrating with Meredith, it’s been a long week without her.”
