UFC megastar Sean O’Malley is ready to take on another of the world’s best, his former idol Conor McGregor.
O’Malley is coming off victory over Marlon Vera at UFC 299, and has Merab Dvalishvili lined up next in September at UFC 306.
However, ‘Suga’ is already looking beyond that, and towards a meeting against arguably the UFC’s most famous son in the ring.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, O’Malley said: “You know what’s crazy? When I look at a professional athlete, a professional fighter who weighs 190, Conor probably weighs 190, right? 185?
“In the UFC, I look at that, I’m like, okay, I’m realistic. I weigh 155, 160. There’s weight classes for a reason, but I’m not gonna trip those guys.”

However, O’Malley added one big caveat, continuing: “I will trip Conor because I do believe I could beat Conor in a fight. I’m not just saying that.
“I think, stylistically, I could beat Conor in a fight. Not an easy fight. But I wouldn’t call out somebody if I didn’t think I could beat him in a fight.
“I think I beat Conor in a fight. At this point right now. He’s thick, but he’s short.”
McGregor has been out of action since breaking his leg fighting Dustin Poirier in 2022, his second straight defeat to the Lightweight fighter.
He was due to return in June against Michael Chandler, but was again delayed due to injury, with his comeback up in the air.
During his lay-off, McGregor, who certainly enjoys a dig of his own on social media, has had to contend with some surprise insults from O’Malley.
On July 23, seemingly out of nowhere, O’Malley wrote: “Conor isn’t in anyone’s GOAT talk.
“Entertainment yes but skills, no. Has a really good left hand. S*** Cardio. Weak Jits. Decently athletic. Mentally weak. Drug addict, needs rehab. 1-4 last five fights.
“Still fan tho. Hope toe heals up.”
Adding to his U-turn about being a fan, he then commented: “Miss the old Conor you fell off bud. Still a fan though. I actually don’t care you are 1-4 in your last 5. I’m still excited to watch. Hope the toe is feeling better.”
