Paddy Pimblett picked up his biggest win yet in serious style.
‘The Baddy’ choked out #15 ranked lightweight contender Bobby Green in the first round of their clash at UFC 304 in Manchester on Saturday night.
After seven consecutive decision fights, the crowd at the Co-Op Live Arena needed a boost and it came in the former of the blond-haired Liverpudlian.
Pimblett danced his way to the Octagon as thousands of fans chanted his name.
The 29-year-old started his fight with Green tentatively, but he was more than holding his own against the American, who was believed to have the striking advantage.
Pimblett hit him with repeat low leg kicks before Green bit on one and shot in for an ill-advised takedown, which signalled the beginning of the end.
The BJJ black belt immediately locked up a tight triangle choke.
Green did everything he could to escape. Unfortunately for him, Pimblett wasn’t letting up and he eventually got hold of his arm too.
The Englishman kept applying pressure until Green went out cold.
Pimblett bolted out of the cage and began wildly celebrating.
Green remained on the floor for several worrying moments, but when he opponent went over to check him he appeared to be coming around.
