Cristiano Ronaldo might be on holiday, but the he is making sure to keep up his fitness up in time for the new season.
The 39-year-old is on holiday with his family after competing at Euro 2024 in what many believe may have been his final major tournament appearance.
It marked the first major tournament in his career where Ronaldo failed to score any goals.
Portugal crashed out of the competition in the quarter-finals after a penalty shootout defeat to France, ending the striker’s hopes of replicating the glory of his nation’s Euro 2016 win.
But now, Ronaldo is already looking ahead to his next challenge.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is preparing for the new season in the Saudi Pro League which begins on Friday 11 August, with Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr side first in action on Monday 14 August.
Ronaldo will face Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq side in a much-anticipated clash in the opening round of fixtures.
And the striker is getting himself in great shape to go one better than his club’s second-place league finish last season by making sure to stay fit even in his downtime.
He recently took to Instagram to post a short video of himself and partner Georgina Rodriguez stretching in a sauna.
Both can be seen through the glass door of the sauna stretching out their legs.
While the mental and physical relaxation benefits of a sauna are well-known, according to Pursue Performance, stretching in a sauna also gives immense health benefits.
The heat and humidity of the environment naturally makes muscles more relaxed and more flexible, which makes stretches even more effective for your body.
The conditions also boost your blood circulation which only adds to the health benefits.
And Ronaldo is certainly making the most of these benefits while on his holiday.
The family have also been visiting The Red Sea Project over the last few weeks, a coastal destination which is part of Saudi Arabia’s plans to boost tourism in the region.
They have become regular visitors to the area, and in March, John Pagano, the CEO of the company developing the area, known as Red Sea Global, met with Ronaldo and reflected on how pleased he was by his visit.
He stated on LinkedIn: “It was a tremendous honor to have football legend Cristiano Ronaldo and his beautiful family enjoy time together at The Red Sea.
“His incredible accomplishments speak for themselves, but his humility and interest in what we’re doing and how we’re doing it differently inspired us most.”
“We wish him all the best on and off the pitch as we put Saudi Arabia firmly on the global tourism map together.”
Indeed, Ronaldo and Rodriguez have now even embarked on their own project in the region.
They are in the process of constructing a luxury hotel business on the west coast of the country.
