Marc Cucurella has fulfilled his promise of dying his hair red following Spain’s Euro 2024 victory.
A number of Spain fans rocked Cucurella-inspired wigs at Euro 2024 as La Roja beat England in the final to win their first European Championship since 2012.
But now, the Chelsea defender has transformed his iconic trim – but fear not, the long curly locks are still there.
Instead, Cucurella has swapped his dark hair for Spain’s iconic red, dying it after the trophy lift in Berlin.
Taking to Instagram to post the snaps of his new look, the 25-year-old’s caption, written in Spanish, roughly translates to: “Promise is debt.”
During the group stage, Cucurella vowed to make the move if he was crowned a European champion.
He told the radio show El Partidazo: “If we win the title, I’ll have my hair dyed red.”
After La Roja’s 2-1 win over France in the semi-final, his girlfriend, Claudia Rodriguez, brought up her partner’s promise again.
“Marc promised somewhere that he would dye his hair red.”
“But he didn’t promise me anything and I won’t force him to do it.”
His teammates are absolutely loving the new look, too.
“Yooo,” Chelsea star Trevoh Chalobah commented on his Instagram post, along with numerous laughing faces.
Meanwhile, his girlfriend summed up her thoughts on his new trim by simply writing ‘Omgggg’ with a shocked emoji face.
The Spaniard appears to have been basking in the glory of his country’s trophy win.
He was filmed standing on a table and singing about eating iconic Spanish dish paella and drinking Barcelona-brewed Estrella during his team’s celebrations – as well as having a cheeky dig at Gary Neville.
The left-back was named in Euro 2024’s Team of The Tournament, which also included England’s Kyle Walker.
Cucurella played six of Spain’s seven games, racking up the second-highest minutes of any of La Roja’s players (546), just behind goalkeeper Unai Simon (570).
He picked up one assist, setting up the the winning goal for Mikel Oyarzabal in the final.
Amongst his fellow Spain defenders, he won possession most times (21), won the most tackles (nine) and also jointly created the most chances (seven).
Cucurella played 26 games for Chelsea last season, scoring one goal and grabbing two assists. He missed a chunk of the season due to an ankle injury.
He signed from Brighton in 2022 in a deal worth an excess of £60million.
