Kevin Durant was set to return to practice with Team USA on Friday in London.
That meant that the two-time NBA champion was teammates with Stephen Curry again.
“It’s great,” Durant said to a room of reporters, including talkSPORT. “It’s exciting times. He’s at the point in his career where this is probably the last thing he wants to check off on a résumé.
“His energy is very, very high. To be around that is pretty cool.”
Curry and Team USA will play two exhibition games at the 02 before heading to France for the 2024 Summer Olympics.
USA head coach Steve Kerr said he’s unsure if Durant will play in the exhibition games.
But simply having Durant, a 14-time All-Star, sharing the same court again with Curry is a huge win for NBA fans across the world.
Curry is widely regarded as the greatest shooter of all time and is a two-time NBA MVP.
Durant joined Golden State in 2016, creating a super team that won two NBA championships and extended the Warriors’ dynasty.
Durant twice won the NBA Finals MVP with Golden State.
Now, the three-time gold medal winner is again a teammate of Curry, who’s attempting to win his first gold medal in Paris.
“It’s incredible,” Durant said. “Just a great guy to be in a locker room with. A team-first player. I match up well with those types of guys.”
Team USA opens Olympic play on July 28 in Lille, France against three-time MVP Nikola Jokic and Serbia.
Curry and LeBron James are also Olympic teammates for the first time, after years of NBA Finals battles between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Warriors.
“I just expect them to be what they are: Two of the greatest players that ever touched a basketball,” Tyrese Haliburton exclusively told talkSPORT.
Kerr expects the same from his two biggest names in France with a shared gold in sight.
“LeBron and Steph are really excited to play together,” Kerr said.
