Rumors have been boiling over the past few days as it is now all but confirmed that the Arizona Coyotes will be packing up shop and moving northward to Salt Lake City, Utah. With this, sudden end to NHL hockey in the desert — for now — local fans have been understandably unhappy.
Despite this information being all but confirmed, Coyotes team owner Alex Meruelo put out an official announcement on the team’s social media accounts stating that he understood fans’ displeasure and confusion, but that things would be revealed in due time. Inevitably this just prolongs the inevitable reality that many desert hockey fans have been dreading since before the Coyotes even downsized to Mullett Arena in 2022.
