Tom Aspinall thinks Eddie Hall should stick to ‘freak show’ fights.
The former World’s Strongest Man winner pulled off a stunning knockout victory in his 2 vs 1 handicap match with TikTok stars, the Neffati Brothers, earlier this year and is now looking to kick on with his MMA career.
Hall is currently in talks to face Mariusz Pudzianowski, a former five-time World’s Strongest Man champion and 27-fight (17-9-0-1) MMA veteran.
Given the sheer size of him, Hall – who weighed in at 360lbs last time out – promises to be a difficult night’s work for any low-level MMA pro.
But Aspinall doesn’t anticipate he will amount to anything more than that.
“Well, Eddie is never going to be an actual good-level MMA fighter”, said the UFC interim heavyweight champion during an interview with talkSPORT.
“For one, he’s in his mid-thirties, and two he’s been doing strongman all his life and is completely the wrong size and shape to be a good-level.
“With Eddie, he’s never going to fight someone who is 3-0, like a contender or a prospect.
“He is always going to face someone that has a bit of a freak show angle to them.
“Even Pudzianowski, he’s had a lot of MMA fights but he’s still not really a good-level MMA fighter.”
Pudzianowski may have the edge in experience but Aspinall, who has trained with Hall in the past, believes his friend has what it takes to upset the apple cart.
“That’s a fight I’d definitely watch and I think it’s a fight Eddie can win as well,” Aspinall added.
“I’ve seen a fair bit of Pudzianowski and I don’t really rate him so I think that would be interesting.
“Maybe let Eddie have a normal fight against one guy instead of two and then have him fight Pudzianowski.”
Pudzianowski made his MMA debut back in 2009 shortly after retiring from strongman.
He has competed for premier Polish promotion KSW for his entire career and has floated around their top 10 rankings for the majority of his tenure.
At 47 years old, it is safe to say that Pudzianowski is on the decline as a fighter and that was apparent in his last outing when he was knocked out by Polish boxing star and MMA novice Artur Szpilka.
Pudzianowski likely only has a couple of fights left in him and the Hall clash is the one that makes the most financial sense.
