Czech Republic vs Turkey predictions
Group F is the final one to conclude at the European Championship and we could be in store for a night of drama on Wednesday.
Portugal have already secured top spot, while Georgia must beat Roberto Martinez’s men to stand a chance of advancing – a tall order, you feel.
In all likelihood, then, Czech Republic vs Turkey is a straightforward head-to-head clash to determine which of these sides will advance to the round of 16 as Group F runners-up.
Turkey have the advantage as things stand. Their victory over Georgia on matchday one gave them three points, whereas Czech Republic could only manage a 1-1 draw with the tournament debutants.
As such, a draw here would seal second place for Turkey. Czech Republic must emerge victorious to go through, either as runners-up (if Georgia drop points) or in third place (if Georgia win and outscore the Czechs on the night).
The stakes could not be higher and we therefore have an intriguing encounter in store at Volksparkstadion.
We have seen two different sides to Turkey so far. They played some thrilling football in an end-to-end encounter against Georgia on matchday one, sealing a 3-1 win with virtually the last kick of the game.
But they were well beaten by Portugal on matchday two. A comical own goal by Samet Akaydin just about summed things up as Turkey were outclassed by Cristiano Ronaldo and co.
The Czechs almost took a point off Portugal in their first outing in Germany, only to concede a last-gasp winner from Sergio Conceicao.
Perhaps even more disappointing was the subsequent 1-1 draw with Georgia. That was a game that Ivan Hasek will have long ago circled as his team’s best chance to pick up a win in Group F.
Still, Czech Republic are not out of this yet. Both they and Turkey have their fate in their own hands as they prepare to face off in Hamburg.
Czech Republic vs Turkey betting tips
Czech Republic and Turkey will battle it out for a place in the round of 16 at the European Championship.
Draw – 12/5 (Betfred)
Turkey manager Vincenzo Montella made a few changes to his XI for the Portugal game but there is only one known absentee for Wednesday, with Abdulkerim Bardakci set to serve a suspension.
The majority of fans inside the stadium will be of a Turkish persuasion, as was the case in their two previous outings. But that sometimes can be a hindrance as well as a help.
Montella must ensure his team are patient and stick to the game plan, which is not always easy when you are being roared on by tens of thousands of passionate supporters.

Both Czech Republic’s matches to date have been tight and this one is likely to follow suit.
The probable absence of Patrik Schick, their main man up top, is a huge blow that may force the Czechs to be more defensive than they would have liked.
A draw would be an excellent result for Turkey and we fancy their chances of getting one.

Over 5.5 cards – 6/5 (bet365)
With so much on the line, Wednesday’s tussle will be competitive and hard-fought from start to finish. The referee, Istvan Kovacs of Romania, should expect to be kept busy.
Turkey rank second at the Euros for tackles per game, while Czech Republic are joint-third. Only Austria (3.5) have had more yellow cards per match than the Czechs (3), with Turkey not far behind on 2.5. Meanwhile, both sides are joint-fourth for fouls per game with 13 each.
The Czechs are particularly physical. Their attacking strategy is based on swinging crosses into the area. Whenever they get a throw-in high up the pitch, Vladimir Coufal hurls it into the 18-yard box.
Turkey are a more technical team, but they are not afraid to get their hands dirty. Again, the sheer noise that will be generated by their supporters could play a part in Turkey’s players flying into tackles.
All in all, it would not be at all surprising if six or more players entered the referee’s notebook.

Arda Guler to score or assist – 8/5 (VBET)
Arda Guler starred in the 3-1 victory over Georgia. He was a thorn in the opposition’s side for much of the match and netted with a stunning strike to put his team 2-1 up.
Guler only featured for 20 minutes against Portugal due to a minor groin issue, but he is in line to be back in the starting XI for this decisive fixture.
The Real Madrid teenager is one of the most gifted young players at the tournament and Turkey will look to him for more moments of magic in the final third.
Guler was a bit-part player with the Blancos in 2023/24, but he still averaged a goal every 62 minutes in La Liga.
Turkey will hope the 19-year-old makes an impression here too.
