There is one card game that has got the England players hooked during their downtime at Euro 2024…
There’s plenty of time for the Three Lions stars to relax between games to stave off boredom.
They are holed up in the five-star Weimarer Land Spa and Golf resort in Blankenhain for the duration of the tournament.
The luxury 94-room retreat boasts two full-size football pitches on the grounds, meaning the Three Lions can train just metres away from their hotel beds.
Weimarer Land has two 18-hole courses and a nine-hole option as well. Plus a robot waiter called Kehrbart.
However, it is a simple family card game that has got plenty of the team hooked.
It is one that will have no doubt caused arguments up and down the nation, and everyone has their own idiosyncratic rules.
That is of course, Uno.
Lewis Dunk revealed to talkSPORT that the card game has got them hooked.
He told talkSPORT’s Faye Carruthers: “There’s a lot of Uno going on, a bit of golf, darts, there’s all sorts going on. And obviously, there’s a spa there for recovery and relaxing. The camp’s amazing up there and it’s got everything.”
When pushed on who has been winning, he said: “Oh, it’s up and down. It keeps changing around. I’ve had a few days off to be fair. Who’s the best? It might be Ezri [Konsa] you know. He’s all right.”
Dunk is not the first person to bring up Uno this summer either, teammate Ollie Watkins mentioned it in a separate interview with the in-house England media.
When talking about his best mates in camp, Watkins said: “I’d say Joe Gomez as well, and Dunky [Lewis Dunk]. We’ve got a little card school going. Trying to beat them at Uno at the moment.”
Among the other things keeping the players busy is a huge LEGO Hogwarts they are building.
England have taken four points from their opening two Euro 2024 group games, a win against Serbia and a draw with Denmark.
However, huge criticism has been aimed at manager Gareth Southgate for his tactics and the lacklustre performances.
The Three Lions are still in pole position to qualify top of the group, with the final match before the knockout stages against Slovenia on Tuesday, live on talkSPORT.
Dunk insists the vibe has still been good in the camp, however.
He added: “The vibe’s been fine. It’s been good. The morale’s good in the camp and of course we want to win a game of football, but we’re still in a good position.
“We control the group. We’re top of the group with four points and it’s in our hands to go win the next game and top it.
“It’s not so easy to win games of football in tournaments. Obviously, it’s my first experience and I’ve never known what it’s like inside.
“It’s difficult to win a game of football in a tournament. The point is not the end of the world and we’re still in a good position.”
