Charley Hull had the perfect response to a fan’s cheeky request during her outing at the Women’s PGA Championship.
The English star was competing at the major in Sahalee Country Club in Seattle, USA when her drive on the seventh took a fortunate bounce onto the fairway.
The 28-year-old could then be seen blowing a kiss in the direction of a fan watching on, but took to social media to explain what the interaction was all about.
Taking to Instagram, she wrote: “Smiling into the major weekend.
“And YES that second picture is me blowing a kiss to a fan,” with a kissing emoji.
“I think my ball nearly hit him and luckily got a good bounce into the fairway, he then shouted ‘what do I get for that good bounce’ I said ‘here I’ll blow you a kiss’.”
Hull has developed a reputation for being one of the LGPA tour’s biggest characters.
The two-time winner was recently seen with a cigarette in her mouth while signing autographs at one event, leading her to say: “I’m just me.
“I’m not going to change for the world. I’ll just be me, and people will either like it or lump it.”
A score of 70 on her opening round put Hull in joint-sixth on day one in Sahalee, while a 73 on her second round saw her drop to joint-twelfth.
This is after her preparations were scuppered when British Airways lost her golf bag and gym shoes head of the championship.
The winner will take home $1.56m, making it the sixth LPGA Tour event to feature a winner’s share of more than $1million. It is also the third highest first-place prize on the 2024 schedule.
The LPGA world number eight is hoping to challenge for her first-ever major win in Seattle.
