As the Premier League season heads to an enthralling climax, all the big questions are being asked.
Luckily, WhoScored.com are on hand to help us answer one of the biggest – who is Premier League’s signing of the season?
With plenty to choose from, they have given us the top ten based on their popular rating system, and a couple of omissions may well surprise you…
10. Dominik Szoboszlai (Liverpool) – 6.97 rating
After a strong start to the season, Dominik Szoboszlai looks to have gone off the boil a little, though injury disrupted his campaign.
The Hungarian has scored three and provided two assists for Liverpool in his debut season in England.
Although it’s feasible to suggest that the latter return should be higher with the 23-year-old averaging 2.2 key passes per 90.

9. Kai Havertz (Arsenal) – 6.99 rating
Conversely, while Szoboslazi started brightly, Kai Havertz flattered to deceive in the opening months of his time at Arsenal but has really started to shine having been deployed up front.
The 24-year-old now has nine goals and five assists to his name in the 2023/24 Premier League campaign.
The bulk of these contributions which have come in 2024 when playing in attack.
As such, Havertz now boasts a WhoScored.com rating of 6.99 this season.
8. James Ward-Prowse (West Ham) – 7.06 rating
James Ward-Prowse bagged his sixth league goal of the season in West Ham’s 2-1 win at Wolves over the weekend as he continues to excel for the Hammers.
The central midfielder has proven a solid addition to the West Ham XI following his big money arrival from Southampton last summer, with his 37 key passes from set-pieces ranking him third in England’s top tier this term.
7. Ross Barkley (Luton) – 7.15 rating
Ross Barkley has been a revelation for Luton following his free transfer arrival.
The midfielder has scored four and provided four assists for the Hatters this term and is the driving force from midfield for Rob Edwards’ side having completed the fifth most dribbles (57) in the division.
6. Alexis Mac Allister (Liverpool) – 7.16 rating
One of Liverpool’s more consistent performers this season, Alexis Mac Allister has taken his game to the next level in recent weeks.
Now granted greater freedom to push forward, the Argentine has scored four goals and provided five assists for the Reds in 2023/24.
Wataru Endo’s form in defensive midfield has helped the Argentine return a WhoScored.com rating of 7.16.
5. Mohammed Kudus (West Ham) – 7.18 rating
Having initially struggled to secure a regular first team spot at West Ham following his summer arrival from Ajax, Mohammed Kudus has become a key man for the Hammers.
No West Ham player has returned a better WhoScored.com rating than Kudus (7.18) in the Premier League this season.
The 23-year-old having completed more dribbles (91) than any other player.
4. Jeremy Doku (Man City) – 7.25 rating
After a bright start to life at Manchester City, Jeremy Doku’s performances have dipped, with the Belgian returning a WhoScored.com rating of 7.25 this season.
The one-goal and four-assist salvo against Bournemouth back in November feels a lifetime ago but, even so, Doku’s impressed when called upon.
The 21-year-old has completed the second most dribbles (72) in the Premier League this season.
3. James Maddison (Tottenham) – 7.31 rating
At one point, James Maddison was the standout performer in the Premier League, however, injury in the eventual 4-1 loss to Chelsea back in November has seen the Tottenham midfielder’s form dip.
That being said, Maddison has still shone in north London, as evidenced by a WhoScored.com rating of 7.31.
2. Cole Palmer (Chelsea) – 7.34 rating
While his move to Chelsea raised eyebrows last summer, Cole Palmer has been one of the few shining lights for the struggling Blues this season, having garnered a WhoScored.com rating of 7.34.
Palmer has 16 goals and nine assists in England’s top tier this term, the latter beaten only by three players, all of whom are on ten assists.
Without him, Chelsea would be much worse off, and that’s an understatement!
1. Declan Rice (Arsenal) – 7.35 rating
Pipping Palmer to top spot as the best rated new signing in the Premier League, Declan Rice’s WhoScored.com rating of 7.35 is the seventh best overall in England’s top tier this term.
The 25-year-old has proven a handy attacking outlet for the Gunners this season, having scored six and provided five assists.
His 91 per cent pass success rate is also solid, with Rice settling in at the Emirates superbly.
